The problem
You’re typing fast, thinking faster — and the layout was wrong the whole time. What comes next is a ritual every bilingual Mac user knows by heart.
In the wrong layout, of course.
Or hold Backspace and watch it vanish.
Control‑Space, the Globe key or the menu bar.
And hope you still remember what you meant.
You were mid‑thought. Now you’re deleting gibberish letter by letter — and the thought is gone.
A glance at the menu bar before every message — and you still slip when you jump between chats.
They “fix” names, code and links you typed on purpose. Now you’re undoing their fixes.
Uzbek in Latin, Russian in Cyrillic, English for work. Your keyboard juggles them all day. So do you.

a year spent typing the same things twice.
Just 10 slips a day, about 8 seconds each.
What if fixing it took just two taps?

How it works
Even with the wrong layout on. It happens to everyone.
Left or right — two quick taps, nothing in between.
The text is fixed and the layout is switched. Carry on.
“Hello” in three languages
No selection? TypeCorrect converts the word right before the cursor. Select text to convert exactly that — part of a word, a sentence or several lines.
Try it
Type something in the wrong layout, or pick an example. Then press Shift twice.
Double‑tap Shift to convert the last word — or your selection.
This browser demo converts between English (ABC) and Russian – PC. The Mac app works with any two keyboard layouts you use.
Features
No selection? TypeCorrect converts the word right before the cursor. Select part of a word, a sentence or several lines, and it converts exactly that.
Right after converting, it selects the matching input source, so the next word comes out right.
English, Russian, Uzbek, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Arabic, Hebrew, Greek and more. TypeCorrect reads the real macOS layout tables, so ANSI, ISO and JIS keyboards map exactly.
Native Mac apps, browsers and Electron apps. If an app doesn’t expose its text reliably, TypeCorrect does nothing rather than guess.
When an app needs the clipboard to swap text, TypeCorrect puts your clipboard back exactly as it was.
New · off by default
Turn it on in Preferences, and a word typed in the wrong layout is fixed the moment you press Space, then the layout switches. It acts only when the word isn’t in the dictionary for your current layout but is a real word in the other one, so names, links and code stay as you typed them. Double‑tap Shift right after to undo.
Knows English, Russian and Uzbek (Latin) words, plus any language macOS has a spelling dictionary for.
Out of the box nothing changes until you double‑tap Shift. Pick your tap speed, turn Smart switch on or off, or pause TypeCorrect from the menu bar.
Written in Swift for macOS 13 and later. Universal for Apple silicon and Intel, signed and notarized. Lives in your menu bar and starts at login.
Privacy
TypeCorrect reads text when you double‑tap Shift — or, with Smart switch on, checks the word you just typed when you press Space. It converts the text on your Mac and forgets it. No sign‑up, no cloud.
Every conversion happens locally, in milliseconds.
Online, the app only checks your license with Polar, looks for updates and sends anonymous usage statistics — never your text. You can turn statistics off in Preferences.
Secure text fields are always skipped.

FAQ
Yes. TypeCorrect is free for 7 days — no license or card needed. When the trial ends, buy a $9.90 license to keep going.
Most auto‑switchers guess while you type and often change words you typed on purpose. TypeCorrect is manual by default: nothing changes until you double‑tap Shift. If you want automatic fixes, turn on Smart switch — it changes a word only when it isn’t a real word in your current layout but is one in the other, and a double Shift right after undoes it.
Yes, with Smart switch. It’s off by default; turn it on in Preferences → General. When you finish a word with Space, TypeCorrect checks it against the macOS spelling dictionaries on your Mac: if “ghbdtn” isn’t an English word but “привет” is Russian, it fixes the word and switches the layout. Uzbek (Latin) words are recognised through a word list built into TypeCorrect, since macOS has no Uzbek dictionary. Short words, links, code, numbers and password fields are skipped, and a word you undo with double Shift is left alone for the rest of the session.
Any two keyboard layouts enabled in macOS: English, Russian, Uzbek, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew, Greek and many more. TypeCorrect uses the real layout tables from macOS, so it matches your keyboard exactly — ANSI, ISO or JIS. Input methods that compose characters, such as Chinese or Japanese, aren’t supported.
Yes. Uzbek Latin is typed on the English (ABC) layout, so Ыфдщь typed with Russian turns into Salom — and back. The Uzbek (Cyrillic) layout works too.
Text is processed only on your Mac and is never stored or sent anywhere. By default TypeCorrect reads text only when you double‑tap Shift. With Smart switch on, it also keeps the word you’re typing in memory, to check it against the dictionary when you press Space. Password fields are always skipped.
macOS requires these permissions for any app that responds to keyboard shortcuts and edits text in other apps. TypeCorrect shows you exactly where to turn them on.
To check your license with Polar, look for updates and send anonymous usage statistics (counts and app and macOS versions — never your text; you can turn statistics off in Preferences). Your text never leaves your Mac.
Any Mac running macOS 13 Ventura or later — Apple silicon and Intel alike.
